A 60-year-old woman was evacuated from the Caldera Blanca volcano yesterday afternoon after suffering a possible fracture of the ankle.
Emergency services were called at 3.07 pm, and when they arrived on the scene, they found that the woman’s companions had managed to move her to a dirt path at the foot of the volcano.
Firefighters transferred her to a Canarian Health Service ambulance, which took her to the Dr José Molina Orosa Hospital in Arrecife.
It is the latest in several similar incidents that have involved leg injuries suffered on the loose scree and steep paths leading to the rim of the Caldera Blanca.
