Lanzarote airport received 796,872 passengers in August

Lanzarote’s César Manrique airport received 796,872 passengers in August this year, a new record.

Canarian airports recorded a total of 4,494,584 passengers during the month of August, which exceeded the figures for the same month in 2023 by 9.5%.

Of the total number of passengers recorded last month, 4,465,570 were on commercial flights, of which 2,060,431 flew domestic routes, 8.8% more than in August last year, and 2,405,139 flew international routes, 7.4% more.

In addition, 39,594 aircraft movements were handled, 3.7% more than in the same month of 2023, and 2,524 tonnes of goods transported, 3.1% less.

Traffic by airports

Gran Canaria Airport recorded the highest number of passengers in August, with 1,217,366, 7.8% more than in August 2023.

It is followed by Tenerife South Airport, with 1,098,803 passengers and an increase of 14.7% compared to 2023; after Lanzarote Airport comes Tenerife Norte-Ciudad de La Laguna, with 623,204 (+10.6%); Fuerteventura, with 571,550 (+8.3%); La Palma, with 138,166 (+12.9%); El Hierro, with 35,541 (+9.3%) and La Gomera, with 13,082 (-1%).

So far this year, Canary Islands airports have registered 34,655,263 passengers, 9.5% more than in the same period in 2023.

Of the 34,419,801 commercial passengers, 14,241,744 travelled on domestic flights, 8.8% more, and 20,178,057 travelled on international flights, 10.6% more than in the same period in 2023.

From January to August 2024, 307,367 aircraft movements were handled, 7.4% more than last year, and 21,675 tonnes of goods transported, 8.1% more.
