Arrecife celebrates 2024 Tourism Awards

Arrecife yesterday celebrated its 2024 Tourism Awards, giving official recognition to some of the most important names in the life of Lanzarote’s capital city.

The event, held in the Recova – the old market square located behind the Ayuntamiento – was hosted by mayor Yonathan de León and tourism councillor Elizabeth Merino.

The main Arrecife Tourism Prize was awarded to the Arrecife Gran Hotel and Spa, now open for more than 20 years and a literal landmark on Arrecife’s seafront.

The Cultural Award was presented to the musician Toñin Corujo, who has given music lessons in Arrecife for many years, as well as promoting folk music widely.

Marathon runner José Carlos Hernández, who competed in the 2012 Olympic Games in London and developed the Disco Night Urban Race in Arrecife, was presented with the Sporting Award.

The Business Award was presented to Sam Parfums, one of the oldest and best-established perfume shops in the capital.

Finally, the Event Award went to the Concierto en Velas, the candlelight concert held by the Charco de San Ginés.
