Unemployment on Lanzarote fell by 4% in September as 309 people came off of unemployment benefits, according to data from the Canary Islands Employment Observatory (Obecan).
September marked the fifth consecutive month in which unemployment has fallen on Lanzarote and the total number of unemployed people on the island stands at 7,383 (a figure that is 8.3% lower than last year).
In the Canary Islands as a whole the number of unemployed people fell by 4,375, a decrease of 2.7%, which brings the total number of unemployed people in the Canaries to 158,670 (6.7% less than at the end of September last year).
