Arrecife installs more surveillance cameras to deter fly-tippers

Arrecife Ayuntamiento announced that more surveillance cameras have been installed to reinforce security and to deter fly-tippers from illegally dumping waste.

The cameras have been installed in eight strategic points of waste collection and vehicle traffic, in response to recent episodes of fires and fly-tipping in Arrecife.

Arrecife councillor, Jacobo Lemes, stated “we are facing a critical situation in certain areas of Arrecife, and these cameras will help us to identify and sanction those who do not respect the rules of coexistence.”

“At the same time, we want to send a clear message that we will not tolerate any more acts of incivility that harm the well-being of our neighbours. We are counting on the cooperation of the public to ensure that this measure has the greatest possible impact.”

Lemes added that “the initiative is part of a wider effort to optimise waste management in Arrecife and to continue moving towards a cleaner and safer city.”

“With this measure we not only seek to punish offenders, but also to raise awareness of the importance of taking care of our environment.”
