Teguise Ayuntamiento unveil new mobile recycling point

Teguise Ayuntamiento has launched its new “Mobile Clean Point”, a new mobile recycling point that will travel the streets of the municipality to collect special waste in a safe & sustainable way.

This mobile recycling point will be available at least one day a month in each village, from 8:00 to 14:00 hours.

Teguise mayor, Olivia Duque, stated that “It is everyone’s responsibility to care for and preserve the environment” and affirmed that thanks to this action Teguise will move towards a cleaner and more sustainable future.

Councillor, Mar Boronat, explained that the mobile recycling point is intended for the collection of a series of specific waste, “as they require proper handling to avoid a negative environmental impact’, and complements the clean point located in Costa Teguise. ‘It is essential that citizens use this service responsibly.”.

The materials that can be deposited are: oils, aerosols, X-rays, batteries, ink cartridges, small electronic waste, solvents, paints and medicines, among others.

This clean-up initiative will visit the villages of the municipality once a month, and twice a month in the more densely populated areas. It will be set up near the socio-cultural centres and will initially have a person in charge of helping citizens to use it correctly.

The villages it will visit are Los Cocoteros, Caleta de Famara, Tao, Tahiche, Las Caletas, Costa Teguise, Guatiza, Soo, Muñique, Nazaret, Los Valles, La Villa, Caleta Caballo, Teseguite, Mojón, Tiagua and Mozaga. A monthly schedule of the plan will also be established, which will be published on the Ayuntamiento’s website.

In addition, Teguise has a fixed clean point, located in Costa Teguise, and offers a free home collection service for household goods and clothes. To use it, residents can call 900 120 190, Monday to Friday, from 7am to 2pm.
