The campsite at Papagayo was opened yesterday and will remain open until the end of September, with expectations that demand will be high.
Papagayo’s is the only official campsite on the island and is usually used by caravans and mobile homeowners as well as those pitching tents. Although open to tourists, the campsite is mainly used by local Canarians, reflecting a long island tradition of spending their summer holidays by the sea.
This season the campsite has updated its electricity supply and its communal areas, as well as adding eight new places for mobile homes, which brings the total of places up to 266.
Prices have not changed for many years, with places for a tent starting at €9 a night, bookable at www.acampadapapagayo.com
