Lanzarote remains under yellow weather alerts today

Lanzarote remains under a yellow alert for winds, and another yellow alert for calima conditions (suspended dust) has been added until midnight tonight.

The scattered showers of yesterday are not predicted to return, but blustery winds are forecast to continue today (Friday 27th of February) and tomorrow, with a yellow alert for gusts of up to 70 kph in place until 9pm on Saturday 28th February.

A high-level calima is also predicted, resulting from a large tongue of airborne dust issuing from the African mainland.

A rough seas alert will be in place from 3 am to 9pm on Saturday, mainly affecting the north and north-west coasts of the island.

Temperatures will drop a little, with daytime temperatures between 17 and 20 degrees.

Changeable conditions are forecast for the next few days, with stiff winds and cooler weather and a further possibility of rain on Monday and Tuesday.
