Arrecife sets April record with 43 cruise ship arrivals

This April, the Lanzarote capital will welcome 43 cruise ships, setting a new record for international passenger arrivals on the island.

A fleet of luxury vessels will make port calls in April, including the Queen Victoria, Sky Princess, Costa Toscana and Britannia.

Forecasts from the Las Palmas Port Authority (APLP) indicate two Sundays in particular will see exceptionally high volumes of cruise passengers. On 19 April, the Queen Victoria, Marella Voyager, World Voyager and the exclusive boutique ship Le Bougainville are all expected to arrive in the city.

Then on Sunday 26th April, large cruise ships Ventura (en route to Cádiz), Sea Cloud Spirit and Mein Schiff 4 (en route to Tangier) will dock. Another day of bustling activity is scheduled for 28 April, with port calls by MSC Virtuosa, Exploris One, Sea Cloud Spirit and Mein Schiff 7.

The mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, notes that the strong growth of cruise tourism in Lanzarote helps state run ports in the province of Las Palmas benefit from the revenue generated, with more than 30% coming from ships making stops in Arrecife.
