Lanzarote Socialists have condemned Echedey Eugenio, deputy mayor of Arrecife, after statements they describe as “racist” and “full of hate”.
In a heated debate about unaccompanied young migrants on Lancelot TV, Eugenio said “Do you know who these 6,000 minors are going to be sharing your schools and health centres with when they come of age? With my children and grandchildren.”
Socialist deputy for Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo, described the statements as “shameful and unacceptable”, and called for the Coalición Canaria, for whom Eugenio is the secretary on Lanzarote, to take disciplinary measures.
