Arrecife’s Open Mall has requested permission to extend its premises to Calle Pérez Galdos.
The extension would occupy the site of the old Hiperdino supermarket located opposite Valterra’s health centre. This supermarket was demolished when Hiperdino moved into the Open Mall and the site is currently used for car parking.
The extension would increase the size of the shopping centre by 50%, adding 16,000 square metres to its current area of 32,000 square metres. Approval will depend on the Canarian Government’s Department of Commerce.
Arrecife’s Mayor Yonathan de León said the project would “reinforce Arrecife as a centre for shopping and leisure.”
