British tourists accounted for 51% of all tourism to Lanzarote in the first six months of 2025.
878,392 British visitors passed through the airport from January to June, confirming once more that the UK is Lanzarote’s most important market. The second most important market was Ireland, with almost 200,000 tourists – an astonishing amount considering the population of the republic.
Germans (160,361), domestic Spanish tourists (140,000), and the French (119, 509) were the next most important markets. The Netherlands, Italy, Scandinavia and Belgium were next, but none of these countries provided more than 50,000 tourists.
The figures show that Lanzarote’s attempts to diversify markets and avoid “putting all its eggs in one basket” have so far failed, and the island’s main sector remains vulnerable to any unforeseen event that might affect British tourism.
