Christmas Events in Lanzarote

As the holiday season approaches, Lanzarote prepares to dazzle visitors and residents with a diverse array of festive events. From community runs and craft markets to spectacular parades and open-air concerts, each major resort offers its own unique flavour of Christmas cheer. Here’s a snapshot of what you can expect across the island, based on last year’s celebrated programmes.

Playa Blanca
The southern resort of Playa Blanca kicks off the festivities with energetic community events like a night-time Music Run and a charitable Wine Walk from the Faro de Pechiguera. The season is rich with cultural performances, from traditional folk groups and parrandas in Plaza del Carmen to concerts at the cultural centre. Families can look forward to children’s workshops, a visit from Santa Claus parading through the shopping streets, and the unmissable spectacle of the Three Kings Parade on January 5th, which brings the town to a joyful standstill.

Puerto del Carmen
Lanzarote’s largest resort blends traditional charm with modern entertainment. The festivities begin with the inauguration of the nativity scene and the opening of a bustling Christmas Crafts Market at Plaza de las Naciones, which hosts live music performances for several days. The programme is packed with family-friendly theatre shows, the exciting arrival of Santa Claus, and sporting tournaments for the younger crowd. The New Year’s Eve party at Plaza El Varadero is a major highlight, featuring live music and DJs leading up to a breathtaking midnight fireworks display over the Avenida de las Playas, before the season concludes with the magical Three Kings parade from the harbour.

Arrecife
As the island’s capital, Arrecife delivers a grand and varied programme that engages every neighbourhood. The Parque José Ramírez Cerdá becomes a festive hub with its nativity scene, Santa’s Grotto, and daily children’s workshops. Music is everywhere, with free concerts ranging from classical orchestras and gospel choirs to Canarian folklore in parks and plazas city-wide. Unique events include circus shows touring community centres and a memorable ‘Real Camels Tour’. Revellers have a choice of two spectacular New Year’s Eve parties: a large gathering at Plaza de las Palmas or a sophisticated gala at the historic Castillo de San José. The Three Kings celebrations are especially extensive, with the Kings visiting individual neighbourhoods before their grand capital parade on January 5th.

Costa Teguise
The festive season in Teguise and Costa Teguise is marked by two enchanting Christmas markets offering unique handicrafts, which serve as community hubs accompanied by live music, cultural inaugurations like the Christmas lights and nativity scene, and family-focused events such as Santa’s parade and the extensive Three Kings tour on January 5th, alongside a wider schedule of choir meetings, opera festivals, and New Year’s Eve fireworks.

This island-wide preview offers a taste of the festive magic planned across Lanzarote. The full and detailed schedules for each resort’s 2025 Christmas programme, with confirmed dates and times, will be published in English on our website as soon as they are officially released by the respective town councils later this year. Stay tuned to plan your perfect festive holiday on our beautiful island.
