Private Chef Nerina at Event And Catering Solutions Lanzarote has done it all – catering for clients on land and at sea across the UK & Europe.
Nerina’s catering career has taken her to different countries, towns and cities both in the UK and Europe, as well as out to sea on board vessels from yachts to commercial survey boats.
Her work on boats has led her into the Mediterranean, Atlantic and North Sea – the latter off the coast of Aberdeen which was by far her most challenging task. Nerina lends her success to sea legs which she believes was inherited from her grandfather who was an Ex-Forces chef.
In addition to having her sea legs, Nerina is also qualified as Competent Crew in any case of emergencies that may arise on board.
“The most valuable skill that I learnt during my time catering at sea was the ability to think quickly and adapt menus to suit any occasion and setting… as well as being comfortable working in small spaces with limited facilities”, Nerina tells us.
“I loved working at sea, and those who know me well know that cooking is a great passion of mine closely followed by being in or near the sea!”, she added.
Nerina says that she has had a few bookings here in Lanzarote to dine at sea and there are more booked in over the coming months.
“I’d say that my biggest catering accomplishment at sea was making very well risen Yorkshire Puddings and a full roast dinner for the Ocean Star crew working in The Captain Field in the North Sea. I remember it being a very cold and choppy December day – back in those days I had to wear steel toe cap boots, a high-vis jacket and a hard hat to get to the stores… Of course, there are no steel toe cap boots or hardhats on Yachts; however, I loved it all the same”, Nerina tells us.
