Costa Teguise bus station opening delayed

The opening of the new bus interchange at Costa Teguise is being delayed by a land ownership issue.

Although construction of the terminal was completed several weeks ago, Canarias7 reports that title to the land is still held by Teguise Ayuntamiento and needs to be transferred to the Cabildo by approval at a council meeting.

Once this happens, the Cabildo’s executive committee will need to formally accept the proposal.

These formalities are unlikely to be completed in April, and efforts are being made to open the facilities in May or June.

The interchange, located at the junction of the Avenida de las Palmas with Avenida del Jablillo, will operate in a similar manner to the dedicated stop at Puerto del Carmen, and the interchange at Arrecife’s Playa Reducto.

The €2 million project in Costa Teguise has several platforms for intercity buses, a designated taxi rank, a ticket office, storage areas, bathrooms and a cafeteria. The cafeteria is currently awaiting a operating contract and is unlikely to be open when the bus stop finally opens.
