Costa Teguise enjoys Santa Claus parade

Families lined Avenida de Las Cucharas on Tuesday afternoon for one of the Teguise’s most beloved Christmas traditions.

The festive procession was led by the vibrant rhythms of the Menuda Caña batucada. It made its way along the main tourist thoroughfare, featuring stilt walkers, themed dancers, local dance schools, and a host of popular Disney characters. Mickey, Minnie, and princesses were all in attendance to greet the crowds.

The parade culminated at the anfiteatro de Las Cucharas, where Father Christmas himself waited. Children eagerly took turns sitting on his knee to whisper their Christmas wishes. The festivities continued with a performance of “El gran concierto de la ilusión”. This musical show, complete with a live band and singers, spread a message of peace and hope through classic carols and songs, perfectly capping off the family friendly afternoon.

Teguise Mayor, Olivia Duque, highlighted the importance of such events. “Initiatives like this allow our streets to come alive during this special time of year, providing meeting places for families and reinforcing the Christmas spirit in all parts of the municipality.”

The Councillor for Festivities, Andoni Machín, added, “The Santa Claus parade is one of the most eagerly awaited events for the children of the municipality, and every year we work to make the programme more attractive, with the participation of local groups and shows designed for all audiences.”
