Teguise Ayuntamiento is currently open to bids for a contract to operate sunbeds on the resort’s beaches, which have been without furniture for almost a year.
The successful applicant will pay an annual fee of €170,000 to operate sunbeds and parasols on the Costa Teguise’s three main beaches for the next three years.
The proposal envisions 460 sun loungers and 230 parasols at Playa de las Cucharas; 100 sun beds and 50 parasols at Playa Bastian and 20 sun beds and 10 parasols at Playa Jablillo.
Teguise has claimed that the delay in renewing the contract was caused by the necessity to receive approval from Spain’s Coastal Department before going ahead with the tender.
