Dog owner fined for tying dog to railings outside Open Mall

A woman has been fined for tying her dog to railings outside Arrecife’s Open Mall shopping centre while she went shopping.

Under last year’s Law of Animal Welfare, leaving a dog at the entrance of a public establishment constitutes an act of negligence, with fines that can reach up to €20,000 in extreme cases.

The dog was temporarily taken into the care of Arrecife’s Animal Welfare Department.
