Guardia Civil officers have opened an investigation against three people who were discovered spearfishing illegally in a protected area in the north of the island.
The incident occurred at Playa Caleta de Mero in Haría on 11th February, when three people were detained. Two had been fishing while the third had been acting as a lookout.
The group had caught around 55 kilograms of fish, which was confiscated and donated to Calor y Café, the homeless charity in Arrecife.
