Lanzarote Cabildo Vice-President replaced

Jacobo Medina has been replaced as Vice President of Lanzarote’s Cabildo by his party, the PP.

Medina had occupied the Vice President’s role since the elections of 2023 and had enjoyed a close relationship with President Oswaldo Betancort of the Coalición Canaria. Rumours of a poor relationship between Medina and the leader of the PP on Lanzarote, Astrid Pérez, are assumed to be behind his removal.

Medina will be replaced as Vice President by María Luísa Tovar but will continue as the Cabildo´s Councillor of Public Works, a position in which he has become well-known since first taking it on following the 2019 elections.
