Lanzarote’s Emergency Consortium has presented its annual report for 2024, revealing a year in which training and renovation took precedence.
1,217 actions were carried out by the fire brigade over the course of last year, a rise of 4% on 2023 but one that is explained by a greater number of drills and preventive measures, rather than a higher number of emergencies.
Among the main tasks carried out by the fire brigade was extinguishing a fire at the Zonzamas dump, which involved over 100 workers. The contribution of Lanzarote to the deadly floods in Valencia was also recognised.
30 new defibrillators were installed around the island over the last year, and firemen took part in various educational workshops and activities.
The fire station also saw renovation of its resources, with eight new vehicles including a fire engine.
