Lanzarote placed on yellow alert for rough seas

Lanzarote has been placed on a yellow alert for rough seas by Spain’s meteorological agency AEMET as storm Garoé arrives to the Canaries.

The alert lasts from 2pm this afternoon to 5 am tomorrow morning, with waves of 4 to 5 metres forecast.

The rough seas will come from the north-east, and care is advised for those visiting Lanzarote’s northern coasts.

Better weather is expected to return on Wednesday evening as the wind shifts back to the prevailing north-eastern alisio.
