The Cabildo has warned motorists of possible road closures and detours in the south of the island as filming takes places for Oscar-winning director Pedro Almodóvar’s second Lanzarote-based feature film. Motorists are advised to be cautious and follow the instructions of local police and Guardia Civil agents.
Disruption is likely from the 25th of July until the 15th of August on the following stretches of road:
LZ-30 (Teguise-Uga), Kms 9-20
LZ-67 (La Santa-Yaiza), Kms 14-17
LZ-56 (Mancha Blanca-La Geria) Kms 3-4
LZ-703 (Las Breñas-El Golfo), Kms 6-8
These are some of the most beautiful roads on the island and suggest that the film will be set largely in the volcanoes and wine country of Lanzarote, in contrast to his 2009 film Broken Embraces, which was filmed in Famara, Haría and Tahiche. Scenes from the new film will also be shot at the airport and the hospital.
