Lanzarote Wine Run winners

1,900 people took part in the Lanzarote Wine Run over the weekend, a hugely successful event that attracted thousands more to Uga and Lanzarote’s wine country.

The 23 kilometres women’s race was won by Aroa Merino, while Yerove Rodríguez took the men’s title. Both athletes were awarded with their own body weight in Lanzarote wine. Anya Lamprecht and Carlos Algageme were the winners of the shorter 13 km race.

One of the highlights of the event was the participation of Blanca, a 10-year-old camel who accompanied participants for some of the race.

The event was accompanied by a food fair and live music at the finishing line in Uga.

“The Lanzarote Wine Run is not just a race, but a project that reflects the sustainable island model promoted by the Cabildo; it also funds conservation and employment projects with NGOs such as ADISLAN and the Creciendo Association,” said Cabildo Councillor Samuel Martín, as he thanked organisers, emergency services and volunteers.
