The number of holiday rental properties available to book in Lanzarote has dropped by 11.6 per cent compared to this time last year, according to the latest figures from ISTAC.
Data shows that in January 2025, there were 7,806 properties listed on rental platforms across the island. By January of this year, that figure had fallen to 6,990.
Across the Canary Islands, the decline was slightly more moderate, with a 5% drop bringing the total number of available vacation rentals to 45,253. Lanzarote currently accounts for 15% of all holiday lets in the Canary Islands. Tenerife leads with 41%, followed by Gran Canaria with 23%, and Fuerteventura with 14%.
Despite the fall in actively marketed properties, the total number of dwellings officially registered as vacation rentals in the Canary Islands Registry has risen to 11,094 at the start of this year.
Looking at the island’s municipalities, the steepest percentage decline occurred in Tinajo, where availability fell by 20.6%, from 280 properties last year to 232 this year. It remains the municipality with the fewest holiday rentals on the island.
In absolute terms, the largest decrease was seen in Yaiza, which dropped from 2,337 listings in January 2025 to 2,087 last month, a fall of 11.9%.
Tías recorded a 10.9% reduction, with numbers falling from 2,081 to 1,875. Teguise followed a similar trend, declining by 10.3% from 1,638 to 1,484.
Arrecife, experienced a 14.7% decrease. In January last year, there were 514 vacation rentals available in the city; today, there are 448.
Haría also saw a 10.3% drop, falling from 580 holiday homes in January 2025 to 518 this year.
San Bartolomé was the only municipality to buck the trend, recording a modest increase in available properties. The number rose from 336 a year ago to 346 today.
