Arrecife Mayor, Yonathan de León, has announced that the Parque de Maneje will have large green spaces, new sports courts, a children’s play area, skate park, cafeteria and picnic area, among other new facilities.
In addition to the transformed Parque de Maneje, the first 201 social housing units are being built after nearly 30 years. In the Maneje neighbourhood, Arrecife Ayuntameitno has ceded land to build up to 400 units.
Arrecife Ayuntamiento is “working to ensure that the neighbourhoods of Arrecife improve and increase their sports facilities during this term of office.”.
De León stated that “this neighbourhood of the capital will add nearly 3,000 new residents over the next five years, with a high population of children and young people, who will move to live in the public housing and other subsidised residential developments planned in Maneje and the surrounding area.”.
The contract to transform the park has been put out to tender and joins the list of new constructions proposed in the neighbourhoods of San Francisco Javier, Titerroy, AltaVista, and soon in the areas of Valterra, Los Alonso, and El Lomo.
