Socialist members of Arrecife Ayuntamiento have criticised the lack of air conditioning on public transport in the capital, claiming the temperatures reached 44 degrees Celsius on buses.
“It is outrageous that with 44 degrees inside a bus, the mayor continues to do absolutely nothing to improve public transport,” socialist spokesman, Alfredo Mendoza, stated. “While public money is spent on parties, events and propaganda, the mobility of the residents of Arrecife remains completely abandoned.”
They point out that this especially affects the elderly, minors and those with reduced mobility, “who are the ones who most depend on public transport to get around and to whom this municipal government is turning its back.”
“Public transport cannot continue to be ignored. What we are experiencing is not only a lack of management, but also a lack of respect for citizens. The mayor has to stop looking the other way and start taking seriously the real problems of Arrecife,” Mendoza concluded.
