Cabildo Vice President and Head of Public Works, Jacobo Medina, visited the start of the roadworks on the Avenida de las Canarias in Playa Blanca this week.
“We were aware of the need to undertake work on this important road, which is used by thousands of vehicles that enter and leave the port of Playa Blanca every day, connecting it with the island of Fuerteventura”, Medina stated.
In addition to improving the road surface, Medina explained that work will also be carried out on the small roundabout that connects the Avenida de las Canarias to Avenida Archipelago, and that connects the Avenida Archipelago to Avenida Faro Pechiguera.
The department has earmarked a total cost of 1,156,091.25 euros to complete the work, 80% of which has been financed by the Canary Islands Development Fund (FDCAN). The company in charge of carrying out the work is Lanzagrava S.L., which will have 6 months to carry out the contract.
“However, all indications are that the work could be completed even earlier than planned”, Medina added in closing.
