Canarian Emergency Services have declared a state of pre-alert for rough seas, which commenced at 6pm on Wednesday this week. The possibility of rough weather has arisen as the tail-end of Storm Kirk arrives at the Canaries.
The warning has not yet been echoed by Spain’s meteorological agency, AEMET, but the pre-alert status means that citizens are advised to call off nautical activities on the north and east coasts of the island and stay clear of piers and rocky shores.
Meanwhile, AEMET is currently forecasting a high a possibility of rainfall for this weekend, with a 95% chance on Saturday evening and a high likelihood of rain until next Wednesday.
