Ryanair calls for two-drink limit at EU airports

Ryanair is calling for EU airport to introduce a two-drink limit to stop passengers from drinking too much before boarding flights.

It comes after Ryanair announced that it is suing a passenger for 15,000 euros after they caused so much disturbance on a flight to Lanzarote that the plane had to be diverted and land in Portugal.

Regarding the proposed two-drink limit at EU airports, Ryanair stated:

“It is time that EU authorities take action to limit the sale of alcohol at airports.”

“We fail to understand why passengers at airports are not limited to two alcoholic drinks (using their boarding pass in exactly the same way they limit duty-free sales), as this would result in safer and better passenger behaviour on board aircraft, and a safer travel experience for passengers and crews all over Europe.”

Ryanair added that it and other airlines already limit the sale of alcohol in-flight, however, there is no limit on how much they can drink in the airport before boarding the flight – which leads to delays in flights & disturbances.

What is the cost of diverting mid-flight?
