Storm Olivier brought downpours to Lanzarote yesterday, with the northern municipality of Haría receiving almost twice as much rain as other parts of the island. As a result, normally dry barrancos (ravines) turned into rushing torrents.

In Arrecife, several streets were temporarily flooded as usual, bringing the familiar fragrance of raw sewage that Arrecife residents are used to after rain. However, the storm passed quickly, giving way to a strangely warm and humid afternoon.
More rain is almost certain to arrive, with AEMET forecasting an 100% probability of rainfall for tomorrow morning and afternoon. A yellow rain alert will remain in place until midday today, although the rain is not expected to be extremely heavy.
