Two arrested in Costa Teguise after mugging

The Teguise local police have arrested two people for allegedly mugging a tourist in Costa Teguise yesterday morning.

According to the report, the local police were alerted to a mugging in Costa Teguise in which a mobile phone (valued at over 1,000 euros) and a smart watch had been stolen. The two individuals allegedly physically assaulted the victim in order to take the items.

After receiving a tip-off, local police launched a search operation. With the use of geolocation to find the stolen device, the police were able to locate the two suspects.

The alleged pair were caught on the Avenida de las Palmeras in Costa Teguise who were heading towards Arrecife on foot. The phone and watch were recovered and returned to the victim.

After the arrest, the suspects were handed over to the Guardia Civil for the following proceedings.
