Two days of talks relating to the El Jable zone of Lanzarote will take place in Teguise from today, organised by the Desertwatch association.
El Jable is the sandy central corridor of the island that stretches from Famara down to Güime, a unique ecosystem that has come increasingly under threat in recent years.
Today at 5pm, Dr. Sergio Henríques will present a talk about the huntsman spider Cerbalus verneaui, while Dr. Jordi Cortina will discuss the restoration of El Jable.
Tomorrow, 28th February, there will be two talks about birds. At 6pm Laura Gangoso and Walo Moreno will talk about the area’s importance for small migratory bird species, while Nigel Collar will speak in English about the Hubara bustard. These talks will be followed by a roundtable discussion.
Events will take place at the Convento de Santo Domingo in La Villa de Teguise, and you can sign up at www.desertwatch.org/es/charlas2025
