“Very Good” rating for Lanzarote’s 2024 vintage

Last year’s Lanzarote wine vintage has been classified as “Very Good”, the second-highest qualification available.

The announcement took place at the Castillo de San José in Arrecife after nine experts tasted samples of 25 wines from Lanzarote’s bodegas. 16 dry whites, 4 rosés, three reds, a semi-sweet white and a sweet white wine were chosen to represent the 2024 vintage.

The Regulatory Council of the Denomination of Origin rates the previous year’s vintage every summer and this is the seventh year running that Lanzarote’s wines have achieved a “very good” rating. The highest rating of “Excellent” has only been achieved five times this century, in 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2017.

The lowest rating of “good” was achieved in 2008 for the only time.
