Volotea has announced the removal of its fuel surcharge for all new bookings made from Wednesday, June 10th, while also confirming that its full summer flight programme will operate as scheduled.
The airline currently connects Lanzarote with nine destinations. These include Asturias in mainland Spain and eight cities in France: Bordeaux, Strasbourg, Lille, Lyon, Marseille, Nantes, Paris and Toulouse.
As part of the changes, passengers will also be able to amend their booking details without paying additional administrative fees. Volotea says it will absorb future fluctuations in oil prices internally rather than passing those costs on to customers.
The move marks a reversal of a policy introduced in March, when the airline linked ticket prices to fuel costs following a sharp increase in oil prices driven by tensions in the Middle East. Under that system, the price of Brent crude was reviewed seven days before departure, and passengers could face a surcharge of up to €14 if fuel prices had risen significantly.
Alongside the removal of the surcharge, the carrier has reassured customers that its summer flight schedule remains intact, with no cancellations planned.
According to Volotea, conditions in the aviation sector have evolved since the measure was introduced. The company believes the industry is now facing a longer-term structural challenge linked to global energy instability rather than a short-lived crisis, making it necessary to focus on more sustainable long-term solutions instead of temporary price adjustments.
