Lanzarote isn’t at its warmest in December but it’s still the sunniest, hottest place in Europe, and thousands of holidaymakers will be coming to make the most of a week or two of Christmas sunshine.
Simply put, while sunshine can’t be guaranteed in December, the chances are that you’ll get more than enough to enjoy a festive picnic on the beach or a relaxed stroll along the seafront. If you fancy a Christmas dip, the sea is still warmer than it ever gets in northern Europe, too.
There’s a possibility of rain, and when it comes down it often comes down hard – but it rarely lasts long, and the skies are soon clear again.
Temperature-wise, it’s the time of year when you might need a light jacket or jumper if the day is cloudy, and maybe even something a little warmer after dark.
The fresh weather makes this a terrific month for outdoor activities and exploring the island but check for weather warnings before you head to remote areas.
