Yaiza Ayuntamiento requests €9 million for future projects in Playa Blanca

Yaiza Ayuntamiento has requested over €9 million from the Canarian Government for three projects which it believes are of “maximum priority”.

The main project is the proposed modernization of the Avenida Marítima along the stretch between the harbour and the Playa Dorada and Barceló hotels, a project valued at €5.2 million that aims to adapt the walkway to the current and future needs of the resident and tourist population.

“The passage of time has been tough on a seafront avenue with daily traffic of hundreds of pedestrians. In several areas, the deterioration is remarkable, so we must change the appearance of this space if we want to project the image of a destination of quality, especially if we’re committed to attracting cruises”, said Mayor Óscar Noda.

The other two projects involve renovation of Calle Jaime Quesada- the street that connects the roundabout at the entrance to the town and Calle Limones, as well as further actions on the Avenida Papagayo, including modernization works on Plaza del Carmen.
